Margarida Jansà qualified as a nurse at the University of Barcelona (1973), Diabetes Specialist Nurse at the Barcelona Autonomous University-FEND (2000), Master in Nursing Science (2012) and PhD on Therapeutic Patient Education with the doctoral thesis special award at the University Jaume I (2014).

Since 1973 she has been working at the Barcelona Clinic Hospital. She has been member of the Diabetes Unit coordinating the patient and caregivers structured therapeutic education programs (1988-2019). She has been also the coordinator of the hospital Transversal Policy on Chronic Patient Education. She is Professor of the Master “Bases of Health Care and Education to people with diabetes” at the University of Barcelona.

Her main educational contribution has been the development and evaluation of a method for dietetic learning process, based on a boiled food meter device adapted to 20gr of carbohydrates. It has been used since 1995 in many specialized and primary care centres in Spain.

She has participated in many pre-degree, post-degree and continuous education training programmes addressed to doctors, nurses, dietitians, and other health care providers. She has published many research studies and received different awards. She belongs and has been Board member of diabetes scientific societies
