RN, Diabetes Specialist Nurse, Diploma in Nursing
Odense University Hospital, Svendborg, Denmark

Since 1995 I have been working in the outpatient clinic dealing with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The last 8 years I have been working too with telemedicine diabetes consultations going to a small island twice a month and if needed in audiovisual contact with the endocrinologist situated in the hospital on the mainland.

I have further trained through national courses and international conferences e.g. FEND, EASD and IDF.

In 2003 I finished the FEND Endcup and in 2009 I passed my Diploma in Nursing, where my thesis referred to persons with type 1 diabetes and unawareness.

I have been working organizational in the Danish Diabetes Organization for 6 years as well as in the FEND Executive Committee also for 6 years.

At our annual Diabetes Meeting in 2017 I was nominated as “The diabetes nurse of the year.”

In autumn 2017 I had my 40 year jubilee working in our organization within the hospital and I got The Queens Medal of Merit in silver and went to the audience thanking the Queen.

Looking at my career I have experienced such a great development within the diabetes field, and I have met great professional inspiration.
