FEND Doctoral Fellowships have been created to give diabetes nurses the opportunity to undertake a PhD project that addresses an important clinical project relevant to the health and care needs of people with diabetes.

World Diabetes Day 14 November 2016

14 November marks the landmark UN Resolution on diabetes. This Resolution is noteworthy that it is the first UN Resolution on a Non-communicable disease. It also marks the 10th anniversary of this Resolution. Governments throughout the world are fully aware of the seriousness of this growing epidemic. The advocacy of key global institutions and governments are criitcal to the achievements of reducing the impact of diabetes at all levels.

Global good news from WHO

On 17 August the World Health Organization (WHO) named Mr Michael R. Bloomberg, philanthropist and former three-term Mayor of the City of New York, as Global Ambassador for Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs).

FEND congratulates WHO on this strategically important appointment and thanks Mr Bloomberg for his generosity in accepting. His track record in public health is a shining example of political leadership in the battle to improve citizens' health. We look forward to his contribution and leadership in this area of public health.

International Nurses Day

World Health Day 2016 - Beat Diabetes

WHO is marking World Health Day, 7 April, by calling for action on diabetes. It has published its first global report “Global report on diabetes”.
