FEND applauds UN Resolution

The Federation of European Nurses in Diabetes applauds and celebrates this historical and momentous achievement of IDF and its global coalition partners.

This global campaign led by Prof Martin Silink, President IDF, has ensured that diabetes is now out of the long shadows. The United Nations has recognised that diabetes is a major global public health challenge. 14 November 2007 will be the first United Nations Diabetes Day and secures this day henceforth as UN Diabetes Day. Another important historical fact and of immense global implications and hope is that diabetes is the first non-communicable disease to be recognised by the UN. FEND is proud to have been part of the campaign and is renewed in its commitment.
